BeoLab 6000 speakers are as easy on the eye as they are on the ear, defying conventional thinking by delivering maximum sound in the smallest possible space. There's not much point in thinking about the BeoLab 6000 in terms of wattage, woofer or tweeter. There's never been a speaker that looked like this - or such a clear and rich sound produced from such slim enclosures. The BeoLab 6000 represents both the engineering and design skills of Bang & Olufsen. The BeoLab 6000 is probably one of the most famous loudspeakers today and is part of the standard exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, along with a few other Bang & Olufsen devices, namely the Beovox Cona (a subwoofer) and the Beocord VX5000. which, by the way, looks almost exactly like the VX7000. BeoLab 6000 is a smaller version of BeoLab 8000 with the same active construction but with an even smaller net volume: 3 litres. A big advantage of the BeoLab 6000 is the fact that it has two PowerLink connections, which offer the possibility of looping the signal through directly to the second speaker.

This speaker is very often used as the second pair in a Dolby Pro-Logic setup, for example in the AV9000 system. “When it comes to sound reproduction, we believe there is only one relevant parameter: how close can we get to the originally recorded sound. We are committed not to disrupt the artist's intentions by adding unnatural elements to the acoustic image. That's why all Bang & Olufsen speakers share the same goal. They differ in size and shape as well as in the sound pressure level. But they are all designed to reproduce the natural, unadulterated sound as closely as possible” – Bang & Olufsen catalog 2001 – 2002 Features: The BeoLab 6000 fills the room with sound The choice is simple: you can fill your home with large black boxes or with build a stand for the BeoLab 6000 and fill it with beautiful sound and looks. Aluminum Constructed from a single piece of aluminium, the BeoLab 6000 is shaped to stand out from its surroundings but colour-coded to complement any Bang & Olufsen audio or video setup. Benefits of powered speakers How does B&O reduce the overall size of a speaker while improving its sonic performance? This is only possible by placing the amplifiers directly in the speaker cabinet. It's called "Active Loudspeaker Technology" and is used to combine the purest sounds with the smallest and simplest shapes.

Fits in any room At just 110cm high and 10cm deep, finding space for a pair of BeoLab 6000 speakers will not be a problem. Its superior sonic capabilities ensure its performance will never dictate your placement options. The polished aluminum body is available in a range of colors - black, blue, green, red and natural - to complement any Bang & Olufsen audio or video setup. Materials and processing The conscious choice of materials and the final surface treatment of the products are characteristic of Bang & Olufsen and one of their true core competencies. B&O designers know that people use multiple senses to experience a product. Therefore, they take great pleasure in tactile experiences, whether they are touching a cold or warm surface, whether it is smooth or textured. The range of materials used in Bang & Olufsen products is wider than any other company in the industry and they are carefully selected for their high quality and their ability to blend naturally into the home environment. The finish is then refined to perfection and designed in this way.

Why build amplifiers into the speakers instead of storing them separately? Because you can reduce the housing volume to a third of the size of a conventional loudspeaker with the same sound power. The principle is called "active speakers" and you get a compact speaker that can play at high volume without distortion or damage to its drive units. Furthermore, when paired for the same task, amplifiers, tweeters and woofers can be matched to make up for each other's shortcomings. What you hear is music that sounds exactly like the instrument it originally came from (see powered speakers) Deep Bass: How to Produce Deep Bass from a Flat Box All speakers, regardless of brand, size, or construction, create sound by they convert electrical energy into acoustic energy. They push the air in waves, which our ears perceive. In order to achieve high sound pressure, a lot of air has to be moved. You can use a very large diameter speaker cone that travels a very short distance. Or (as Bang & Olufsen prefers) you can make the diaphragm 'deeper', in other words, it can move a greater distance with a smaller diameter. Imagine two balloons, one round and one in the shape of a ball.
